The good news is that show bosses have indeed confirmed there will be a new series of Never Have I Ever, with fans getting to hang out with Devi and friends at Sherman Oaks as they navigate the ups and downs of high school drama.

It's almost time to say goodbye to our favorite messy teen Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan). Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher's teen dramedy Never Have I Ever returned for season 3 last summer, following the boy-crazy brainiac through her junior year as she entered and left two (!) relationships and continued her journey of self-confidence. The show's creative team has confirmed that Devi's story will end with her senior year, and that the fourth and final season has already on the way. Here's what we know about our final year at Sherman Oaks High.

Yes! Netflix released the official look at season 4 on May 9, which opens in the aftermath of Devi's hookup with Ben! But just because Devi has finally crossed her personal milestone, doesn't mean she has everything figured out. The now-senior has to balance her new dynamic with Ben, her feelings for newly-hot peer Ethan (Michael Cimino), and Paxton's surprising return to Sherman Oaks High, all while working toward entering her dream school, Princeton.

The final season of Never Have I Ever was announced way before season 4 even dropped, with Kaling and Fisher making the announcement via a letter to fans last March. Production on the final season started soon after, with Kaling sharing a pic from the writer's room in April. Per Elle, season 4 finished filming in early August, with the cast hosting a send-off carnival where Fisher and Ramakrishnan both gave goodbye speeches.

So far, the show has followed a regular schedule, with season 1 hitting Netflix in April 2020, season 2 in July 2021, and season 3 this August. However, since season 4 got an early renewal and head start, we could see the final season hitting Netflix in late spring or early summer next year.

The season 3 finale was also a big moment for Paxton (Darren Barnet), as he decided to enroll in Arizona State University for college. Though his graduation speech and conversation with Devi could seem like a goodbye for the character, Never Have I Ever really wouldn't be the same without that corner of Devi's love triangle. Luckily, Fisher agrees, as the co-creator confirmed to Deadline that Paxton will appear in season 4.

Besides the fact that season 4 will show Devi's senior year, and all the milestones that will bring up, Fisher told Deadline that the central love triangle won't be letting up at all. While Devi goes to Ben in the season 3 finale, we've yet to learn whether she just wanted to redeem her "one free boink" coupon or actually start another relationship with her enemy-turned-lover. In the meantime, the co-creator said that she and Paxton are now at a new place in their friendship.

"I think that season four is the most hilarious, heartwarming, witty, beautiful creation that I've ever been a part of," he continues. "Because you get so connected to these characters and the journeys that they go on in season four, you're watching them as you go along through the seasons, grow up before your eyes. And it's so special seeing the people that they become and the maturity that they gain, and it's written so beautifully. [Series creators] Mindy [Kaling] and Lang [Fisher] and the rest of the writing team have created this masterpiece."

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who plays Devi, posted that there will be a grand total of 40 episodes in the series, so it looks like the third and fourth seasons will each have 10 episodes, just like the first and second.

Never Have I Ever is back, and while we're so excited to see Devi and her friends take on another wild year at Sherman Oaks, there's an additional highlight: the soundtrack. Throughout the show's seasons, it has given us some of the best song moments on TV like when "Boys Like You" by Kids at Midnight played in the season 1 finale. Luckily for all of us, season 3 does not disappoint. You'll want to add every song to your next party playlist, trust us.

Never Have I Ever will end after its fourth season, which will be released in 2023. The upcoming season of Never Have I Ever promises to be as dramatic and intense as its previous ones. The announcement came along with a teaser for Season 3, which debuted on August 12, 2022, from co-creator Mindy Kaling.

Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher's coming-of-age dramedy Never Have I Ever returns for season 3 on August 12, Netflix announced Sunday as part of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest. The fourth and final season is expected to premiere sometime in 2023.

The season ends with Ben absorbing this newfound information, setting up the possibility for yet another love triangle. "That scene gave me goosebumps because I realized Ben has such an inner conflict that has just surfaced that he's now going to have to deal with," Lewison previously told EW. "You're thinking, okay, he's kind of got this relationship with Aneesa going on. And it's like, can he continue putting his heart into that? Or is his heart in a different place? How do you navigate that? I'm really excited, fingers crossed, for season 3 to see that explored. It's a situation that we've never seen him in."

Devi Vishmakumar is getting ready to graduate. Seven months after Netflix announced that Never Have I Ever had been renewed for season 3, creator Mindy Kaling revealed in March 2022 that the show had also gotten the green light for its fourth and final installment.

Paxton and Ben may have another potential love interest to compete with in season 3. "Meet Des: he's the whole frickin' package," the show's official Instagram account announced in January 2022, alongside a photo of actor Anirudh Pisharody. Per Deadline, Des goes to an elite private school, but is just as smart as Devi, which will likely bring out her competitive side.

Devi and Paxton may be in a new relationship, but that doesn't mean everything will be a fairy tale for them going forward. "It'll be really cool to see Devi in a proper relationship because we technically never really have," Ramakrishnan told ET in July 2021. "But I think Paxton realizing what Devi means to him is really nice because he realizes, 'This is the person that believes in me and doesn't think I'm stupid.'"

Sex talk is graphic and frank: A character schemes to lose her virginity (which she refers to as "popping my cherry" and being "ready to bone"). A male character repeatedly removes his shirt and is admired by girls, who say (out of his earshot) that he looks like he's "smuggling a pepper grinder." Teens use stuffed animals to demonstrate sexual positions, calling out names like "reverse cowgirl" and "love seat." There are jokes about "boinking," watching "teenage boobs bouncing around," foot fetishes, and other mature material. On-screen kissing and flirting, which eventually turns into sex (not depicted) in later seasons.

Parents need to know that Never Have I Ever is a series (co-created by Mindy Kaling) about an Indian American teen girl who's mourning the death of her father. Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) learns to be more emotionally honest and to accept her grief as she navigates typical teen problems related to friendship, school, and romance. Expect lots of mature talk about sex (referred to as "boinking" and "boning," etc.). Teens scheme to have sex, but it takes multiple seasons before anyone actually winds up having it (off-screen). They do kiss, flirt, and talk about boyfriends, girlfriends, and romance. They also talk about characters' looks and bodies, including a scene in which girls say a boy looks like he's "smuggling a pepper grinder" under his pants. In another scene, teens use stuffed animals to demonstrate sexual positions, which they name ("reverse cowgirl," "love seat," etc.). Various teens grapple with their sexuality and work through it in healthy ways. Teens smoke pot and drink, at times to the point of acting foolish and leading to an injury that requires hospitalization. A girl urges her therapist to prescribe drugs including Klonopin and Paxil (the therapist doesn't). Violence is infrequent, but there are repeated flashbacks of a character's death (no blood or gore), someone has a panic attack, and one character hits another during an argument. Language is frequent and includes "s--t," "hell," "damn," and "goddamn." A boy calls a group of girls "unf--kable," and a girl calls her mom a "bitch." Instances of ableism and fatphobia are flaws in a series that's otherwise great for representation, especially for Indian Americans. The show's multicultural group of teens are capable of great integrity and self-control: They make mistakes and learn from them, they treat others unkindly and then regret their actions and make amends. They also learn how to accept each other and live more authentic, happy lives.
